2 for 1 | phoenix newborn, child & family photographer

I just realized I never got around to sharing two wonderful summer sessions for two amazing repeat client families.  Hard to believe we were sweating like mad at these sessions, now that our weather has made a turn towards Fall.  blog1blog2blog3blog4blog5blog6blog1blog2

A sense of humor and a beautiful baby boy | phoenix newborn photographer

I just loved working with this family.  (And it certainly didn’t hurt that their new little guy is so precious.) During our session, they told me that they considered renting a Golden Retriever, just to round out  the “family portrait.” (joke, people)  A sense of humor will give you an A+ in my book, no rent-a-pets needed. ;-)      blog1blog2blog3

new math | arizona high school senior photographer

1 incredibly talented friend + 1 laid-back beautiful model + Desert Botanical Gardens + Summer morning rain showers + coffee = a decidedly fun photoshoot. (In all honesty, I would subtract the humid 100 degree temps and then this would equal the perfect photoshoot.)

exciting | phoenix family photographer

Back to school! We were all excited.  Things that were exciting:

  • 1st grade
  • Old enough to stay for lunch at preschool
  • Accessories
  • Pink converse
  • a tooth lost after the first day of first gradeblog1blog2blog3

lake powell | arizona lifestye photographer

The light was so gorgeous, I had to get some pictures.  Luckily, Quinn (& Scott) agreed. She even handed out posing suggestions.

soft spot | phoenix children photographer

I have a soft spot for sister photo shoots; I just love the interaction.  And the results of this shoot were just what I had hoped for — Beautiful individually and precious together.

laying in the grass | phoenix maternity photographer

It is not always in my best interest to ask a very pregnant lady to lay down, on her back, in the grass and smile.  But in this case, it absolutely was – She is just gorgeous!

I really enjoy laid back sessions, and this was one of them.  I’m looking forward to meeting the newest member of their family when baby arrives.

desert music | arizona kid photographer

When I heard they wanted photos with the cello, I was so excited. And this sweet girl could not have been more wonderful to work with.

From this to this, in 10 months:

She had an amazing year, learned so much, graduated Kindergarten and now has a full-ride to 1st grade. (well, room & board excluded.)  Way to go, Kiddo!

dream vs. reality

Now that I am more than a month removed from this trip, I can stomach sharing some of it.

Dream:  Surprise the oldest, spring her from Kindergarten, hop on a plane with Mommy, have girl time in the hotel, spend a fun-filled day at Disneyland, relax by the pool the following day and then come home that night.  Quick, fun Mommy/daughter trip.

Reality: Hop on plane and get to Disneyland-area hotel just in time for puke-fest 2011. Sleeping in hotel instead of fun with the Mouse.  Frequent visits from housekeeping.  Mommy catches the bug.  Then, miraculously, we were able to rally for a (shortened) day of Disney.

*I am so greatful that the trip ended with a smile.

** If your daughter asks to go to the Bibbity, Bobbity Boutique – do it!  Typically, I might hesitate to say, “Yes” but the smiles it brought to her face were totally worth it.  (Not to mention the fabulous black hair-piece we got to take home)

***I don’t need to stay in a hotel again anytime soon.
